Night Owl Record Show was started in 2003 by the folks above. Karl joined the fold a few years ago. The idea was, and still is, to create and support a community of music and record lovers.

The show takes place in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. The friendly Eagles members provide food and drinks. Sellers and buyers, collectors all, can share their finds over a beer and a game of pool.

The DJ crew for the event will be Three the Hard Way
(Universal DJ Sect, King Tim 33 1/3, & Discus Noir)
They will be playing their finest in funk, soul, jazz, & blues.
They have been playing the show for years now, and always find just the groove to match the mood of the room. They will also have a table of records for sale right at the foot of the stage.

Join us Saturday April 17th
5pm-9pm,
4904 SE Hawthorne Portland OR
Admission $2.00
Early Bird admission 3pm $15.0o

Tony will be making the long drive from Spokane to the Night Owl Record Show once again. His truck will be loaded down with some of the best records that ever made it out west. His store in Spokane, Unified Groove Merchants, has developed a world wide reputation. He seems to have an endless supply of rare soul, funk, psych, rock and hip hop.

If it looks weird Erik will buy it. If he doesn’t like it he will sell it. That means Erik’s table will be full of weird, strange and unusual records in every category and some that there is on category for.

More Sellers From Our Community

Brandon Lieberman is a familiar face at the Night Owl Record Show. A portion of Night Owl Record Show proceeds go to KBOO Community Radio. One of the best shows on KBOO is Brandon’s Drinking From Puddles.

There is no shortage of record store clerks selling at the Night Owl Record Show. Bill Stephenson will be back again with his latest finds.

Robert Renk has been pricing away, putting the better things into plastic sleeves, and am planning on doing a $3 bin + a $5 bin.

Robert was co-owner of The Ooze record store here in Portland, so he has some of that 80s independent / alternative stuff like Bauhaus, Cocteau Twins, Birthday Party, and Factory records kind of stuff.  He moved to NYC to be a DJ in 1986 and has done that on and off for the last 24 years.  He has tons of REALLY GOOD house and disco from the 70s to some relatively current stuff.  Also a bit of hip hop, and lots of good R & B from the 80s/90s.

Now he is leaving the DJ thing behind me, so he is looking forward to a major purge so he can buy a ticket to Barcelona!

DJ, vegan and record store clerk, Thom Jones has his fingers on the pulse of Portland. Thom is the premier seller of avant and modern rock. Thom will be one of the first sellers to set up his table. If we are lucky he will stay at the show past seven o’clock.

Ruby Short’s table is where I always find records by Portland bands. She has been setting up at Night Owl Record Shows for years. She has deep ties in the Portland music and arts community. You may have heard Ruby’s daughter, famed singer songwriter Shelly Short. Her son is a well known local photographer, Faulkner.
